Compression Sack for Sleeping BagOne of the most important aspects of a sleeping bag is that it packs up small and compact in the morning. If sleeping bags didn’t do this, backpacks would have to be a lot bigger than they currently are. And if you want your sleeping bag really compact, you need a compression sack for sleeping bag. Many sleeping bags come with one, but if yours didn’t, or if you lost or damaged yours, then there are some excellent compression sacks for use with a sleeping bag.

Compression Sack for Sleeping Bag

What to look for when shopping for a compression sack for a sleeping bag.
  • Volume – Obviously, you want to be sure that your sleeping bag is going to fit in to the compression sack to begin with, otherwise it’s not going to do you much good. So make sure that you don’t get a compression sacks that’s too small. At the same time, you don’t want a gigantic compression sack that is too big, either.
  • Material – Compression sacks come made of a few different materials. Some, like eVent for instance, are waterproof, which might be something you want from a compression sack. Others, like just basic nylon, wont keep your sleeping bag dry, but they will end up costing quite a bit less, so something to keep in mind.

Best Compression Sack for Sleeping Bag

Some of your best options for a sleeping bag compression sack.
  • Sea to Summit eVent Compression Sack - Your  first and best choice when looking for a sleeping bag compression sack is this option from Sea to Summit. It's made with eVent, which is a waterproof but also very breathable fabric ideal for storing a sleeping bag in. It comes in a few different sizes, which range from 6 liters all the way up to 30 liters, which will accommodate many different sizes of sleeping bags. It also won the 2007 Backpacker Magazine Editor's Choice award, so a seriously good sleeping bag compression sack.
  • Sea to Summit Ultra Sil Compression Sack - This is another possible compression sack that could be used with a sleeping bag from Sea to Summit. The difference is that this one is made with siliconized nylon, which will keep a lot of water out, but not all of it. It also weighs less than the eVent option above, so if weight is a concern then you might want to strongly consider this option. It also comes in sizes ranging from 6 liters up to 30 liters.
  • Granite Gear Round Rock Solid Compression Sack - One more  possible compression sack for a sleeping bag, this one made with just straight nylon, which wont do much to keep your sleeping bag dry, but also wont weigh that much either, so a good option for saving weight. It also comes in a wider range of sizes, from 7.8 liters all the way up to 57 liters.
